Online High School Diploma - Types of Diploma Programs

In the past, a high school diploma was simply a certificate stating that the holder had passed a test successfully demonstrating high-school level academic knowledge. That is no longer the case. There are several different types of diplomas awarded based on the types of classes that are taken by a student during their high school career. They are also available as an online high school diploma. Each state has similar, but different requirements for students to receive their certificates. The availability of focused curriculum often gives students flexibility when choosing courses. Many of these students attend a trade school after graduation. A College Prep and an Honors Prep Diploma are similar in that a certain grade point average (GPA) must be maintained in addition to completing state mandated courses. The GPA differs between the two diplomas. Selecting an accredited program is crucial for it to be beneficial in achieving their goals. Most employers take education into consideration when working through the interviewing process. Earning a high school diploma is an important step to increasing earning potential and career advancement opportunities.
